Meshell Ndegeocello joins us for a Listening Session in conjunction with her January 20 concert appearance with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble.
An intriguing and soulful mix of pop and jazz fusion flows from singer, rapper, and electric bassist Meshell Ndegeocello, who has earned 10 Grammy nominations for her genre-hopping artistry. She just released her ninth album, Weather, and she recently collaborated with jazz pianist Jason Moran in NYC on a musical tribute to Fats Waller.

The Chicago Jazz Ensemble presents this free event as part of its signature series of
informal gatherings in which Artistic Director Dana Hall, jazz artists,
educators, and/or critics lead an interactive discussion around a
particular topic in jazz. Sessions often feature live music
demos, multi-media components, and music recordings.
