The Jazz Institute of Chicago’s Straight Ahead Summer Camp, designed in collaboration with The Chicago Jazz Ensemble® (CJE) was created to elevate the skills of music educators in teaching and playing jazz, but anyone with at least a beginning level of music education is welcome to join us!

Clinicians include CJE Artistic Director and trumpeter Jon Faddis®, Columbia College Chicago Music Department Chair Richard Dunscomb, Diaz Music Institute founder Jose Diaz, CJE Musical Director Dana Hall as well as other CJE members and special guest clinicians.

The course descriptions are organized according to their track designation GENERAL (appropriate for all skill and interest levels), PEDAGOGY (focuses on applied teaching skills), PERFORMANCE (real-time application of performance practices).
