The Chicago Jazz Ensemble is proudly in residence at Columbia College
Chicago as it has been since 1965. As part of our initiative to
maintain a strong relationship between The CJE and the Columbia College
Chicago Music Department, The CJE has featured students in some of its
major performances at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. This
provides a great hands-on learning opportunity for some of
Columbia's brightest music students. It also increases the visibility
and enhances the reputation of Columbia College Chicago as a premier
arts and media college.

On November 14, 2008 we featured guitarist Anthony Bracco on Thad
Jones' "Don't Git Sassy". On December 12, 2008, we featured the
Columbia College Chicago Vocal Jazz Ensemble (3CVJE) "Desafinado" and
"Snow Samba" alongside the world renown clarinetist and saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera. On March 20, 2009 we featured
drummer Robert Dicke on Frank Foster's "Who Me" alongside local tenor
sax legend Von Freeman. The Chicago Jazz Ensemble plans to continue to
feature young talent from Columbia Colege Chicago in its future
performances. Perhaps we may introduce some new stars to the music
world.
